Final: Orioles 5, Red Sox 1- Red Sox lose final game of homestand in frustrating offensive performance
The Red Sox lose their final game of the homestand in a 5-1 loss against the Baltimore Orioles. Boston had 10 hits on the day but struggled driving home runners in scoring position.
Neither team scored a run in the first three innings, but the Orioles gained momentum in the middle of the game producing runs in three consecutive innings in the middle of the game.
In the 4th inning, Walker Buehler put runners on the corners with no outs, and the Orioles got the first run of the game with a sac fly from Ramon Urias. The next inning Dylan Carlson got his first home run of the year in what would be Buehler's last inning on the mound in the 5th inning.
Greg Weissert was the first receiver to make an appearance for Boston, and Ryan O'Hearn gave the Orioles a 3-0 lead in the 6th inning with another solo home run.
The Orioles scored their final runs in the 8th inning against Zach Kelly who got called up from Triple A today. O'Hearn lined a double into right center, and a couple errors resulted in O'Hearn going home on the same play.

The Red Sox got their only run in the 9th inning with Abraham Toro driving home Marcelo Mayer for Boston's only run of the game. Besides that, Boston did nothing with runners on base. The Red Sox actually had 10 hits on the day which was more hits than the Orioles had.
Despite the ugly loss there were a couple silver linings on the day. Playing in his second career game, Mayer got his first career hit in the 2nd inning, and in the 9th inning Mayer lined a double for his first extra base hit.

Jarren Duran went 4-45 at the plate, and Toro and Carlos Narvaez got a couple hits on the day. Other than that, the rest of Boston's lineup didn't produce at the plate.
The Red Sox will now travel to Milwaukee to start a three game series against the Brewers. Garrett Crochet gets the start with first pitch being at 2:10 p.m.
