Final: Red Sox 6, A's 1

The Red Sox got themselves a soft landing on their return home from a demanding 10-game road trip: the Oakland A's, who'd lost more games than any team in the American League.

The Sox raced out to a 6-0 lead after four innings and kept control the rest of the way, cruising to a 6-1 victory, their 10th in the last dozen games.

The Sox got a solo homer from J.D. Martinez and a three-run shot from Rafael Devers to account for most of their damage.

Nick Pivetta blanked the A's for seven innings before Stephen Vogt spoiled the shutout bid with a solo homer in the eighth.
