The Red Sox win their first game against the New York Mets with a 3-1 win.

Facing off against Kodai Senga who entered the game with a 1.02 ERA, the Red Sox produced runs early against New York's all-star pitcher.

In the 1st inning, Jarren Duran started the game with a leadoff double, and then scored a run with the help of Alex Bregman. In the same inning, Trevor Story produced the second run of the game bringing home Rafael Devers from third. Senga had a rough 1st inning having trouble with his command, and the Red Sox took advantage.

In the 3rd inning, the Red Sox added another run with an RBI triple from Duran putting the score at 3-1.

Hunter Dobbins got the start for Boston, and the rookie right handed pitcher impressed again. In 4.2 innings, Dobbins allowed 1 run and five hits while also striking out two batters. He did a great job limiting hard contact against New York's lineup pounding the strike zone the entire game.

In Dobbins' last inning on the mound, the Red Sox took out their started and turned to Justin Wilson to get them out of a two run jam with runners on the corners. Facing Francisco Lindor, Wilson struck out the all-star shortstop keeping the score the same.

Wilson pitched the beginning of the 6th inning and produced a key double play which got runners off the base for New York, and Greg Weissert took over finishing the inning.

Weissert then went out and pitched the 7th inning striking out the first two batters he faced. He then allowed a walk and single putting runners on the corners with two outs for the Mets, and the Red Sox turned to Justin Slaten who get them out of the same jam they faced in the 5th inning. Slaten then pitched a clean 1-2-3 8th inning.

And in the 9th inning, Aroldish Chapman closed the game out for Boston who ended the game with another double play.

The Red Sox didn't do much at the plate for the majority of the game, but they are the first team to score more than two runs against Senga. Duran stays hot with another big game becoming the key contributor at the plate.

Ramon Vazquez held the manager responsibilities in today's game, and he did a great job managing the bullpen to get Boston out of difficult situations. Great outings from Wilson, Weissert, Slaten, and Chapman.

Tomorrow, the Red Sox continue their series against the Mets at 6:45 p.m.
