Final: Red Sox 5, Braves 3 - Boston bats come alive after sluggish start to take the lead

Justin Turner hit a two-RBI go-ahead double off the Monster in the bottom of the seventh, and the Red Sox came back from a 3-0 hole to take down the Braves, 5-3, completing a two-game sweep and winning the season series, 3-1, over the MLB's best. What started as a pitchers' duel between Brayan Bello and Spencer Strider quickly became a home run derby. Ozzie Albies broke the stalemate with a three-run blast in the top of the sixth before Rafael Devers answered in the bottom half of the inning. Triston Casas cut it to 3-2 with a shot to dead center to start the bottom of the seventh before Turner's go-ahead rip. Adam Duvall's laser into the Sox' bullpen added insurance before Kenley Jansen picked up the save in the ninth.

WHAT'S UP

After over an hour-and-a-half rain delay, the Red Sox took a 7-1 win over the Braves. Boston is gunning for the sweep and a season series win on Wednesday night. 

The Braves may have the best record in baseball over the entire season thus far, but the Sox have been the MLB's best since the end of last month, going 14-5 since June 30. 

Bello will face Atlanta for the second time this season and his career. He allowed two runs on six hits through six innings with five strikeouts in a 5-2 win for Boston on the road on May 10. The youngster is looking to bounce back from a four-inning outing that saw him give up six runs (earned) on five hits with three home runs in Boston's 6-5 loss at the Athletics on July 19. Acuña Jr. (1-for-3), Harris II (1-for-2), Riley (2-for-3) and Rosario all have hits against Bello. The others in the lineup to have faced him are Murphy (0-for-3), Olson (0-for-3), Albies (0-for-2) and Arcia (0-for-2). Travis d'Arnaud, out of the lineup, is 1-for-1 against Bello. 

Strider has never faced the Sox in his career. He has three-straight double-digit strikeout games and eight in total this season. Last time out, he gave up four runs (earned), two homers and four hits with 13 strikeouts in six innings during Atlanta's 7-5 win over the Diamondbacks on July 20. Turner is the only Sox player to have ever faced Strider – he is 0-for-3. 

Duran became the first Red Sox player to have at least 20 stolen bases since Mookie Betts had 30 and Andrew Benintendi had 21 in 2018.
