Final: Red Sox 4, Blue Jays 3 (F/10) - Story hits walk off RBI to wrap up series against Blue Jays taken at BSJ Headquarters (Top Red Sox)

The Boston Red Sox avoid getting swept against the Toronto Blue Jays as Trevor Story became the walk off hero in the 10th inning.

Similar to the other three games in this series, limited offense and key defensive miscues were the theme of this game, however, the Toronto was the team that made the costly errors this time.

Both Toronto and Boston were quiet at the plate for the majority of the game, as both starters pitched scoreless outings through the majority of the game. The game stayed scoreless until Alex Bregman recorded an RBI base hit in the Bottom of the 6th inning.

Up to this point, Walker Buehler pitched his best game in a Red Sox uniform. Boston's notable pitching signee threw 6.1 innings of scoreless baseball while also striking out 7 batters and only allowing 4 hits and 1 walk.

Buehler's day ended midway into the 7th inning, and the Blue Jays instantly tied the game when lefty reliever Justin Wilson entered the game. This run gave Buehler his only earned run of the game. Wilson finished the inning allowing another run, and the Blue Jays took their first lead of the game with a score of 2-1.

With their backs against the wall, the Red Sox were able to tie the game in the 8th inning as Rob Refsnyder made it to  home plate after Blue Jays catcher Tyler Heineman failed to hold on to a wild pitch.

Aroldis Chapman shut down the Blue Jays in the 9th inning, and the game ended up heading into extra innings for the second game in a row.

With Brennan Bernardino on the mound, the Blue Jays ended the Top of the 10th with a 3-2 lead after a couple of sacrifice hits advanced Toronto's ghost runner home. Alex Cora made a questionable decision deciding to pitch to the red hot George Springer, and the outfielder recorded the RBI that temporarily gave Toronto the lead.

Down by a run in the Bottom of the 10th inning, Jarren Duran instantly tied the game with a base hit that brought home ghost runner Blake Sabol.

After Duran, Bregman and Triston Casas both got hit by Toronto reliever Nick Sandlin, loading the bases for Trevor Story. With two strikes on the count, Story delivered a soft ground ball to platinum glove winner Andre Gimenez, who failed to make the force out at home giving the Red Sox the walk off victory.

This game wasn't sexy, but at least the Red Sox didn't get swept by their division rival. Buehler pitched an amazing game for Boston showcasing the highs that he showed when he pitched for the Dodgers. He was a massive difference in this game and did a good job preventing the Blue Jays from getting key hits when the Red Sox couldn't figure anything out against Chris Bassit. And for Story, it's happy to see him not only healthy but also producing plays that result in wins such as this. Again, while it wasn't pretty, this walk off win gives fans something good to ride home with.

The Red Sox will now travel to Chicago to play the White Sox. The first game of the series will begin at 7:40 p.m. with Sean Newcomb on the mound for Boston.

WHAT'S UP

The Red Sox look to avoid being swept in their four game series against the Toronto Blue Jays with Walker Buehler taking the mound.

Boston lost yesterday's game in extra innings where they had only four hits all night and struck out 14 times.

On Wednesday, Lucas Giolito tossed 3.1 innings for the WooSox, allowing one run on three hits. He struck out three and walked three, throwing 64 pitches.

Veteran reliever Liam Hendriks, who is on the injured list to start the season due to right elbow inflammation, said he will begin a rehab assignment with the WooSox on Thursday night at Polar Park.
