Final: Angels 4, Red Sox 3- Red Sox lose in extras to Angels
The Red Sox have now lost their 17th one-run score game, falling to the Los Angeles Angels 4-3.
This was a game the Red Sox could've won, but questionable decisions, poor fielding performances, and failed opportunities with runners on base resulted in this loss.
Brayan Bello got the start in the game and pitched 6.0 innings allowing 3 earned runs. Bello faced some adversity early in his start, but he was able to finally give the Red Sox more than four innings pitched lessening the role for the bullpen.
Bello's three earned runs all came in the third inning. This offensive surge from the Angels came from a combination of errors, walks, and base hits from Boston, a lot of it being self-inflicted. Zach Neto and Nolan Schanuel picked up RBI's in this inning.
The Red Sox were able to get their first run in the same inning with an RBI double from Jarren Duran putting the score at 3-1.
Bello pitched three clean innings in the 4th, 5th, and 6th shutting down the Angels lineup.
After Bello's day on the mound was over, Ceddanne Rafaela tied the game with a two-run home run over the monster.

Greg Weissert, Garrett Whitlock and Aroldis Chapman pitched scoreless outings in the 7th, 8th, and 9th, and the game ended up going into extras.
The Red Sox decided to pitch Zack Kelly in the 10th, and the reliever who was again called up from Worcester started the inning with an error which moved the ghost runner to third. Kelly ended up loading the bases, and the Angels scored their fourth run as the Red Sox elected to turn a double play rather than get the lead runner out at home.
In the bottom half of the inning, Boston went 1-2-3 at the plate, and the Angels came away with the win.
Overall, this was one of the most frustrating games the Red Sox played this entire season. It didn't look pretty throughout this game, but the Boston had multiple opportunities to come away with the win.
Boston keeps shooting themselves in the foot. They had three errors in this game, and at the plate Boston recorded 10 hits but left 11 runners on base.
There were a lot of questionable decisions made from Alex Cora. He decided to pitch Kelly in a high leverage situation despite having a 8.25 ERA on the year. There were much better options to go with here.
In the 9th inning, Cora decided to let Romy Gonzalez hit with two outs despite having runners on the corners. Marcelo Mayer was left on the bench the entire game. Cora's pinch hit decisions in the 10th were also questionable.
Boston will wrap up their series tomorrow at 1:35 p.m.

WHAT'S UP
Brayan Bello takes the mound in the second game of series against Angels.
Yesterday, the Red Sox lost 7-6. Richard Fitts allowed 6 earned runs in the 1st inning. Of those 6 runs, Fitts gave up three home runs, as the Angels made history becoming the only road team to hits three home runs in the 1st inning at Fenway Park.
Hunter Dobbins is back in the Red Sox rotation after Fitts' poor start. Fitts has been optioned to Triple A.
The Red Sox called up Cooper Criswell and Zack Kelly. Criswell has a 1.52 ERA in seven outings (six starts) with the WooSox. Nick Burdi goes on the 15 day IL after yesterday's bullpen appearance.
Kutter Crawford has been examined for "wrist pain." Crawford was expected to make his first rehab start at the end of the week. "[Crawford] says it’s nothing serious but we just want to make sure,” Alex Cora said.
