Final: Red Sox 7, Guardians 1 -- Verdugo helps back Sale

Alex Verdugo knocked in three runs and Connor Wong and Christian Arroyo each added two more as the Red Sox cruised to a 7-1 victory over the Cleveland Guardians for their fourth series win in their last five.

Chris Sale allowed just one run on three hits in 6.1 strong innings, rebounding from a poor outing in Baltimore earlier this week. He struck out five and didn't issue a walk.

Verdugo had a solo homer and Wong a two-run shot as part of the Sox' nine-hit attack.
