The Red Sox have now lost back-to-back games against the Chicago White Sox, this time in walk off fashion. Yet again, the Red Sox failed to get any extra base hits which prevented their chances of winning the ball game.

Richard Fitts and White Sox starter Martin Perez pitched scoreless outings through four innings. However, the Red Sox scored their only two runs of the game in the 5th inning with an RBI triple from Ceddanne Rafaela and an RBI single from Romy Gonzalez.

Fitts continued to deal until the 6th inning when he left the game after dealing with discomfort that forced Alex Cora to take him out. Zack Kelly then took the mound for Boston, and the righty relievers allowed a 2-run home run to Luis Robert, the second batter he faced in the game, which tied the game 2-2.

After Robert's home run, the Red Sox couldn't do anything at the plate. They would get the occasional singles and had multiple runners at base, but they weren't able to make the crucial hits that put them over the White Sox.

In the Top of the 9th, the Red Sox went 1-2-3 at the plate, and Aroldis Chapman took the mound to prevent a walk off from happening. However, after a delayed stolen base from Robert, pinch hitter Brooks Baldwin lined a hit into left field which gave the White Sox the walk off victory.

The Red Sox will finish their series against the White Sox tomorrow with Garrett Crochet facing off against his former team. First pitch will be at 2:10 p.m.

WHAT'S UP

The Red Sox will look to bounce back against the Chicago White Sox after yesterday's 10-1 loss in the series opener.

Romy Gonzalez, playing first base, is leading off against lefty Martín Pérez. Last season, the Red Sox wanted Jarren Duran to play all 162 games for them, but this year Alex Cora and company wants to take a different approach. “I said in spring training that wasn’t gonna happen,” Cora said Sunday. “We’re playing the long game here. Having today... we got here late Thursday, it was a big week with Opening Day, doubleheaders and all that stuff. It’s smart to do now.”

Red Sox starter Brayan Bello topped out at 97.8 mph with his sinker in his third rehab start for Triple-A Worcester on Friday while Roman Anthony went 3-for-4 with two doubles.
