WHAT'S UP

Alex Verdugo is riding a 10-game hitting streak (17-for-43, 7 RBI) as the Sox are in the midst of a five-game heater with a win over the Rockies, a sweep of the Yankees and a 9-3 thumping of Minnesota in Monday's series-opener. Triston Casas is on a five-game hitting streak (7-for-19).

Tanner Houck is scheduled to have facial surgery next week to insert a plate to help heal a facial fracture after taking a line drive to the face against the Yankees on Friday. Alex Cora said it is the best option to get him back to pitching this season.

Kutter Crawford is coming off a four-inning outing that saw him give up four runs (no-decision) in Boston's 7-6 loss to the Rockies on June 13. This will be his third appearance (second start) against Minnesota. He's 0-1 in the previous two, holding a 12.00 ERA in 6.0 IP against Minnestoa. Crawford has a 2.60 ERA on the road in 2023.

Byron Buxton is 0-for-his-last-24 as the Twins have lost two straight, four of five and 10 of 17 since June 1.

Bailey Ober is coming off a 4-2 win over the Brewers on June 14 that saw him go six innings, striking out seven and giving up two runs. He'ss faced the Red Sox twice before and has not given up a run in 11 combined innings between his two starts.
