The Red Sox have a chance to win the series after falling 5-4 in 10 innings last night, their first walk-off of the season.

Alex Verdugo was placed on the Bereavement List. Reese McGuire is on the 10-day IL after sustaining a right oblique strain in an at-bat on Wednesday. Yu Chang moved to the 60-Day IL.

LHP Brandon Walter joined the team from Triple-A Worcester. He could make his MLB debut on Thursday. Boston selected C Caleb Hamilton from Worcester to the Major League roster.

David Hamilton made his Big League debut as a pinch-runner on Wednesday, stealing a base and scoring the game-tying run in the eighth. He remained in the game at shortstop. Thursday will be his first start.

Pablo Reyes returns to the lineup after going down as a late scratch due to right abdominal soreness on Tuesday.

Justin Garza will make his first Big League start on the mound, serving as the opener for Boston. It will be his seventh appearance against Minnesota. He's given up two earned runs in nine previous innings of work against the Twins. He threw two scoreless innings against Minnesota in Monday's win, surrendering three hits while striking out three and walking two.
