FINAL: Orioles 4, Red Sox 2 - Boston Goes 1-14 With RISP in Loss

The Red Sox fell to the Baltimore Orioles 4-2 Sunday afternoon. The biggest story from today was Boston's inability to get runs on the board with runners in scoring position. The Red Sox finished today going 1-14 with runners in scoring position. Boston wound up leaving 11 runners on base. 

Kutter Crawford went 5.1 IP, 2 hits, 3 earned runs, 4 K and 1 walk. Crawford looked unhittable through five innings but just like his last start, fell apart in the sixth inning by walking the lead-off batter. It is certainly concerning to see as we get closer to September that Crawford continues to struggle after the fifth inning. Alex Cora said after the game that the leadoff walk was a red flag for him and he noticed that his velocity was off. The Red Sox will need longer outings from Crawford as they continue to fight for a wild card spot. 

Adley Rutschman got credited the first run of the game on a solo shot in the 5th inning making it 1-0 Orioles.

The Orioles scored their second run on a throwing error by Ceddanne Rafaela scoring Ramon Urias. 

Gunner Henderson's two-run bomb was today's difference that extended the Baltimore lead to 4-0. 

It was not until the eighth inning when the Red Sox got on the board with a Rafaela RBI single making it 4-1. 

Rob Refsnyder made it 4-2 in the ninth inning on a solo homer that hit off the left field foul pole. 

The Red Sox settle for the series split and will be back in action tomorrow night in Houston to begin a three-game series with the Astros at 8:10 p.m.
