Final: Brewers 5, Red Sox 1 - Yelich hits walk off grand slam, Red Sox yet again struggles at the plate
The Red Sox lose their fourth straight game losing in walk off fashion to the Brewers 5-1.
While the Red Sox didn't do anything at the plate in this game, they still had a chance of coming away with the victory.
Richard Fitts made his first start since coming back from the IL, and he pitched a scoreless three innings on the mound. In the 4th inning, Boston's bullpen took over starting with a scoreless outing by Brennan Bernardino. Greg Weissert and Justin Wilson combined for 2.2 scoreless innings on the mound following Bernardino.
The Red Sox got their lone run in the 6th inning Ceddanne Rafaela started the inning with a ground rule double. After making his way to third base, Rafaela scored on a wild pitch to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead.
Boston's bullpen continued to shutout Milwaukee on the mound. Justin Slaten took over for Wilson in the 7th inning, and Boston's setup man gave the Red Sox 1.1 scoreless innings.
In the 9th inning, the Red Sox had a chance to extend their lead. With a runner at second, Alex Cora elected not to pinch hit Trevor Story, who hit a pop fly to left field to end the inning. Story went 0/4 at the plate tonight.
Aroldis Chapman came into the game looking to complete a one-run save, but wasn't able to get it done. Chapman gave up a leadoff double and walked a batter, and with runners on the corners Lexington native Sal Frelick delivered the game-tying hit sending the game into extras.
