The Red Sox win the rubber match against the Atlanta Braves getting an incredible pitching performance out of Garrett Crochet.

Every run in this game came in the 1st inning. The Red Sox loaded the bases, and with two outs Trevor Story got a double which brought home every runner on base.

Crochet allowed a solo home run to Marcell Ozuna in the Bottom of the 1st, but aside from that Boston's ace was clutch on the mound.

In three consecutive innings, Crochet left runners on the corners maintaining Boston's lead the entire way. And in his final inning in the 7th, Crochet struck out the side ending his day with 12 K's setting a new season high.

While the Red Sox went scoreless at the plate after the 1st inning, Story, Abraham Toro, and Rafael Devers all had notable days at the plate.

Greg Weissert pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the 8th setting up Aroldis Chapman who got the save in the 9th. An overall great pitching performance from the Red Sox.

Tomorrow, the Red Sox travel back to Fenway Park to take on the Angels at 7:10 p.m. Richard Fitts gets the start on the mound.

WHAT'S UP

The Red Sox wrap up their series against the Atlanta Braves with Garrett Crochet on the mound for the rubber match.

Kristian Campbell was expected to play first base in today's game, but the Red Sox decided to keep Abraham Toro in the lineup. Toro has been great at the plate recently hitting .296 with an .833 OPS in 17 games for Boston.

Boston promoted Nate Eaton and right-handed reliever Luis Guerrero. Nick Sogard got optioned back to Triple A and Justin Slaten will head to the 15 day IL.

Craig Breslow on Roman Anthony: "“I think you also have to be willing to react to the situation you have right now. It’s impossible to ignore the performance he has had in Triple-A and how that’s lining up with our struggles here at the big league level, but we’re also trying to be mindful of the environment that we put him in, what he still has to work on, and what the pressure and demands would be. We’ll try to make the best decision we can for him.”
