Final: Red Sox 7, Athletics 0 - Red Sox shutout A's in first game of series
The Red Sox win their first game in Sacramento, shutting down the Athletics 7-0.
Pitching seven innings on the mound, Boston’s ace Garrett Crochet limited the Athletics to three hits while striking out 10 batters on the night.

Zack Kelly pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the eighth, and Chris Murphy followed with a scoreless outing in the ninth to give Boston the victory.
This was a great game on both sides of the field from the Red Sox. Tonight was another pitching gem from Crochet, who picks up his 15th on the season.
On the flip side, seven different players in the lineup picked up RBI’s. Regardless of the competition, it is good to see the Red Sox combine for 12 hits.
The Red Sox continue their series in Sacramento tomorrow at 10:05 p.m. with Dustin May on the mound.

WHAT'S UP
The Red Sox continue their road trip in Sacramento with Garrett Crochet on the mound.
The Red Sox originally planned to have Jarren Duran play in right field and Nate Eaton play left, but Alex Cora switched the two around an hour before first pitch.
Boston scratched lefty prospect Connelly Early from his scheduled start on Sunday. There is a chance he pitches in the final game of the season on Wednesday.
