Final: Red Sox 14, Astros 1 - Red Sox score 14 runs against Astros, Dustin May pitches 6 innings of scoreless baseball
The Red Sox defeat the Houston Astros splitting the series in Houston with dominating victory.
Even though Boston scored 14 runs, the biggest storyline from this game was the pitching performance of trade deadline acquisition Dustin May.
In his second start with the Red Sox, May pitched six scoreless innings and struck out eight batters.

Despite the high-scoring game, the offense started somewhat slow. In the third inning, Spencer Arrighetti struggled with his control loading the bases with no outs, and Trevor Story drove in the first run after getting hit by a pitch. Masataka Yoshida drove in another run on a sac fly giving Boston an early two run lead.
The offense picked up in the back half of the game. in the sixth inning, Carlos Narvaez started it off with a three-run home run to left field, and Alex Bregman followed with his second home run in consecutive games.

The Red Sox added another run in the seventh inning, and they completely put the game out of reach by the eighth inning, Roman Anthony recorded his second home run in consecutive games, and Abraham Toro and Wilyer Abreu addied to Boston's lead with RBI hits to put the game at 12-0.

The Astros used outfielder Chas McCormick as a pitcher in the ninth inning, and the Red Sox added two more runs.
Newly called-up reliever Jovani Morán came into the game for Boston and finished the game allowing Houston's lone run.
This was enjoyable victory from both an offensive and defensive standpoint against one of the best teams in the American League. The Red Sox have now won their season series against the Astros from this win, and a lot of credit has to go to May for tonight's start.
Boston will wrap up their series in Houston tomorrow at 7:10 p.m. with Walker Buehler on the mound.
