Final: Red Sox 6, Toronto Blue Jays 5 F/10 - Red Sox defeat Blue Jays in extra innings after being down by 3 runs

Late Game Turnaround: The Red Sox defeated the Blue after being down 3-0 going into the 7th inning. Offensively, Boston had nothing going for them. They had a few chances with runners in scoring position but failed to bring runners home. This would change in the 7th inning when Ceddanne Rafaela hit a 2-run RBI single with the bases loaded that helped Boston get on the board. The Red Sox would then tie the game in the 8th inning off a fielder's choice situation generated by Masataka Yoshida. Meanwhile on the pitching side, Boston's bullpen helped the Red Sox stay in this game. Scoreless, smooth outings from Justin Slaten, Luis Garcia, and Luis Guerrero helped Boston keep pace the entire way. The game eventually went into extra innings, and the Red Sox took their first lead of the game. Trevor Story hit an RBI double that brought home ghost runner Jarren Duran and put runners in scoring position. Following Story, Connor Wong fielded into a fielder's choice play adding another run on the board. Vaughn Grissom finished the offensive surge with an RBI single, his third hit of the ballgame. Grissom's RBI single was the perfect amount of insurance needed for Boston to win the game. Zach Penrod and Chase Shugart pitched the bottom of the 10th. It wasn't the prettiest outing, as Penrod allowed 2 runs (1 earned), but the pair of rookie relievers gave Boston the victory. Penrod picked up the win and Shugart recorded his first career save.
The Red Sox will play their final game against Toronto tomorrow with Richard Fitts on the mound. The game will start at 7:07 p.m.

The Red Sox will retire their blue alternate jerseys and unveil a second City Connect uniform next year, the team’s chief marketing officer, Adam Grossman, told MassLive on Tuesday. That doesn’t mean the popular Boston Marathon-inspired yellow and blue jerseys will go away; Boston is keeping those as a core uniform offering moving forward.
