Final: Red Sox 3, Yankees 2 - Garrett Whitlock brilliant, Sox hit homers to take series opener
The Red Sox got a brilliant start from Garrett Whitlock on Friday night. Whitlock kept the Yankees offense guessing all night tossing 6 1/3 innings giving up seven hits, two runs, one earned, walked one and struck out six. Whitlock had 47 swings and 18 misses, his sinker yielded 23 swings. Rafael Devers continues to torment Gerrit Cole crushing his 14th homer of the season. The Sox dealt Cole his first loss of the season.
