FINAL: Red Sox 9, Rangers 4 - Offense Powers Boston to Win

The Red Sox defeated the Texas Rangers 9-4 on Tuesday night to clinch the series behind a great offensive performance. One of the other biggest takeaways was Kutter Crawford had a perfect game going into the 6th inning when Carson Kelly hit a single into left field. Crawford went 5.1 IP, 4 ER, 4 K and 1 BB. 

Rafael Devers got the scoring started in the first inning with an RBI double which gave the Red Sox a 1-0 lead. Devers is now tied with Ted Williams for the most RBI before the age of 28 at 627.

 Rob Refsnyder added to the lead in the fifth inning when he hit a two-run RBI single making it 3-0 Boston.

Connor Wong hit a big three-run home run which blew it open at 6-0 at the time. 

The problem was that after Crawford gave up one run and exited the game, Cam Booser came in and gave up three runs on an RBI single and two walks with the bases loaded. The runs given up were credited to Crawford as the runners on base were his responsibility. 

Nick Sogard came through with a big two-run RBI single in the eighth inning giving the Red Sox insurance runs making it 8-4. 

Romy Gonzalez added a run with a sac fly but Sogard was thrown out at third base trying to advance from second. 

The Red Sox will be back in action tomorrow night with a chance to sweep the Rangers with first pitch at 6:10 p.m.

• James Paxton was diagnosed with a partial tear of his right calf muscle today. While Paxton acknowledges he is up against it with time and will do all he can, this may very well end his season. Alex Cora called it a long shot that he will pitch again this season. Definitely a worst case scenario for the Red Sox who just acquired him at the trade deadline. 
• Boston will be without Jarren Duran again tonight as he will serve the final game of his two-game suspension. 
• The Red Sox last night snapped a season-high-tying 4-game losing streak (4x, prev.: 7/19-22).
• Boston won last night's series opener vs. TEX, 5-4, on Rob Refsnyder's walk-off single in the 10th inning.
