ROSTER MOVES
Patriots
Signed RB JaMycal Hasty. Placed RB Terrell Jennings on injured reserve.
Bit of a bummer, as Jennings looked like the strong favorite at RB3 once he got off NFI. Now the spot is wide open between Jam Miller, Lan Larison and Hasty.
Hasty, 29, spent time in New England in 2023 and 2024 and also spent time in training camp with the Patriots in 2025. The 5-foot-8, 205-pounder, was originally claimed off waivers by New England from Jacksonville on Nov. 13, 2024. He played in two games with New England in 2023 and during the 2024 season, he played in 15 games and finished with 20 rushing attempts for 69 yards and caught 10 passes for 59 yards and 1 touchdown. Hasty originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with San Francisco in 2020 out of Baylor. After two seasons in San Francisco (2020-21), Hasty was acquired off waivers by Jacksonville on Aug. 31, 2022. He was released by Jacksonville on Nov. 11, 2023. Overall, Hasty has played in 56 regular season games and has 479 rushing yards on 121 attempts with 4 touchdowns and 60 receptions for 375 yards and 2 touchdowns. He has also played in five postseason games and has 36 rushing yards and 13 yards receiving. Hasty spent the 2025 season on the Miami practice squad.
Signed RB Hassan Haskins. In addition, the Patriots waived-injured rookie RB Myles Montgomery.
Hassan, 26, originally entered the NFL as a fourth-round draft pick by the Tennessee Titans out of Michigan in the 2022 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-2, 228-pounder, was released by Tennessee at the end of training camp in 2024 and acquired off waivers by the L.A. Chargers, where he spent the last two seasons. Overall, Haskins has played in 44 regular season games with one start and has 76 rushing attempts for 229 yards and 2 touchdowns, 18 receptions for 199 yards and 1 touchdown and 28 kickoff returns for 646 yards. Last season with the Chargers, Haskins played in 12 games and finished with 17 rushing attempts for 47 yards, 4 receptions for 13 yards and had 8 kickoff returns for 197 yards.
BEDARD'S NOTES AND PLAYERS TO WATCH
• I expect Tommy DeVito to start and play a little, but most of the game will be QB'd by Behren Morton.
• I don't expect many starters, especially the veterans, to play in this game.
• Colts coach Shane Steichen said QB Anthony Richardson will play the first half. Riley Leonard will get the second half. The Colts are also sitting a "slew" of starters.
• The newly installed turf is something to watch.
• Probably the top player I'll be watching is first-round pick Caleb Lomu, who I expect will start at LT, and he may get some time on the right side. He's been very inconsistent.
• I expect Gabe Jacas to have some impactful play against a bum that will be shown non-stop on Twitter. He should dominate against backups. If he doesn't, that's a sign of how far away he is. His pass rush has not impressed.
Can Bradyn Swinson, Quintayvious Hutchins, Xavier Holmes and Amari Gainer should put up some nice pass rushes.
• Colts 7th-round pick, RB Seth McGowan, has been a standout and should show well. The Patriots' run defense was bad in the joint practice.
• Spotlight on UDFA LB Khalil Jacobs and TE Tanner Arkin.
• Hopeful that TE Eli Raridon gets some time and shows out with DeVito.
• CBs Karon Prunty, Marcellas Dial, Channing Canada, Kindle Vildor and Kobee Minor are battling it out at depth CB.
• Look for Efton Chism to show out at WR, and then we'll see from the other guys. Eyes will be on Cameron Dorner. I think WR Nick DeGennaro will have a big play.
• James Hudson and Andrew Rupcich need to show something at guard to stick around.
• Will be interesting to see what rookie RB Jam Miller and Lan Larison can do.
