FINAL, Game 1: Red Sox 5, Cardinals 4 (10) - Helsley (4 walks) allows Boston to tie it, Abreu wins it

Looked like the Red Sox were going to lose this one several times, especially down 4-2 entering the ninth against All-Star closer Ryan Helsley. But the closer was horrible, walking four, including Rafael Devers (first homer) with the tying run after being up 0-2. Halsley threw 37 pitches - just 16 strikes.

Aroldis Chapman dominated in the top of the 10th, and then Wilyer Abreu won it in the bottom half with a Wall Ball.

Wilyer Abreu, who was a late scratch from the starting lineup Saturday before the game was postponed due to rain, will sit out Game 1 but return for Game 2, Alex Cora told reporters. “He’s been dealing with some heavy legs,” Cora said. “Obviously running around that much and the spring training thing. So obviously (Saturday), the way things were trending, we pulled him out. He’ll play the second game (Sunday).” Rob Refsnyder draws the start in right field Sunday afternoon. ...
