BOSTON CELTICS vs MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES

7:00 p.m. - NBC Sports Boston

Line: Boston -9.5

INJURIES

Boston: Kristaps Porzingis (OUT, knee contusion)

Minnesota: Mike Conley (OUT, rest), Rudy Gobert (QUESTIONABLE, hip), Jaylen Clark (OUT, Achilles)

NOTES

  • Minnesota is on a back-to-back.
  • Weather prevented the Timberwolves from traveling to Boston after their game in Orlando last night. They got to Boston earlier this afternoon.

THINGS I’M LOOKING FOR

1. Jumping on them early: Not only did their plane land a few hours ago, they're going without Conley in this game, which destabilizes them a bit. This is the opportunity to come out with real focus, execute at a high level, build an early lead, and get them to quit. They might be very willing to chalk this game up as a loss, so push them in that direction early.

2. Negating Gobert: IF Gobert plays, and the travel might push them to just not chance it, then Boston has to figure out a way to negate him after failing to do so in Minnesota. That loss was one of the very few fairly thorough beatings Boston has received. Correcting that mistake would be nice, even if they have to do it without Porzingis. Al Horford should be up to the task.

3. Jayson Tatum’s shooting: He’s been on a tear, which has become typical of his Januaries. What I don’t want to see is him coming out searching for his shot to see if he’s still on fire. Keep working the offense and let the 3-pointers come naturally. He’ll get plenty of chances to hoist them, there's no need to force it.

Follow along with my thoughts as the game goes on. They’ll show up below and in the comments section, so hop in and share your opinion as well.
