Al Horford and Jaylen Brown will both miss the game due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Jayson Tatum, Marcus Smart, Dennis Schröder, and Josh Richardson are all being given the night off to rest.
"This was the game I targeted to rest guys," Ime Udoka said before the game. "Obviously with those two starting guys, key pieces missing, it felt right to rest the rest of our veterans as well. But I did target a specific game and this would have probably been it regardless."
Horford did not make the trip, but the coach says both guys stay involved with what's happening.
"Coaches are still talking to them, obviously," he said. "We're taking this slow with what we're implementing with those guys gone. They have access to the practices and obviously, we can get them game film."
With most guys sitting out, the competition will rage for the guys who are angling for more minutes and the guys just trying to make the end of the bench.
"This is going to be a different situation that they're in, obviously, not playing with the starters," Udoka said. "This is almost very similar to a summer league roster, three of those guys out there playing. So they'll have a different role and different responsibility and more on their plate tonight as far as minutes and their roles. but I just want to see improvement and growth in general."
Let's see how it goes. Stay on this page throughout the game for updates. Feel free to join in the comments.
