PREGAME NOTES

The Bruins will look to earn their 10th win in their last 11 games on Saturday when they battle a slumping Sabres team up in Buffalo.

Following morning skate, Jim Montgomery said that he was “leaning toward” Keith Kinkaid in net for Saturday’s game. It will be the veteran goalie’s first start with the Bruins.

The Bruins can set the record for the best home start in franchise history on Sunday against Vancouver, but the first challenge of a back-to-back set comes at Buffalo, which has lost four in a row.

The Sabres have a young core to build around and certainly seem to be on the upswing, but the Bruins have been a source of misery for them for years now — with Boston boasting a 14-1-0 record in head-to-head games with Buffalo over the last three seasons.

While a young D corps anchored by Rasmus Dahlin and Owen Power is poised to be a pillar of strength for Buffalo for years to come, Tage Thompson has been the Sabres’ breakout forward up front. In a 7-4 loss to Vegas earlier this week, Thompson became the first Sabres player to reach the 10-goal mark in 14 games or fewer since Thomas Vanek in 2012.
