Final: Rangers 3, Bruins 2 - Bruins blow 3rd period lead against Rangers allowing game-winning shorthanded goal
The Bruins fall to the New York Rangers 3-2 blowing a one goal lead in the third period.
After their 3-0 win against the Wild yesterday, the Bruins didn't come out with much energy in this game.
It was a dry first period for both Boston and New York, as both teams combined for less than 10 shots on goal. During these first 20 minutes, the Bruins failed to record a shot on net in a power play opportunity, struggling to get ahold of the puck and stay in the offensive zone.
In the second period, the game picked up offensively. The Rangers scored the first goal of the game with JT Miller beating Brandon Carlo on the boards and finding Artemi Panarin for a one-timer goal.

The Bruins were able to kill off two consecutive Ranger power plays, and David Pastrnak put the Bruins on the board extending his point streak.

16 seconds later, the Bruins took the lead with a goal from Elias Lindholm which gave the Bruins the lead going into the third period.

However, the Bruins weren't able to hold onto that lead making costly plays on special teams. Brad Marchand received a roughing penalty making contact with Ranger goalie Igor Shesterkin, and Vincent Trocheck scored the tying goal on the power play.

Later in the period, the Bruins had an opportunity to take the lead again on the man advantage, but the complete opposite took place. The Bruins turned over the puck in the offensive zone with only Charlie McAvoy back on defense. Skating with full speed, Chris Kreider turned the play into an odd man rush and received a pass from the puck carrying Minkah Zibanejad which lead the game winning shorthanded goal.

Down by a goal late in the game, the Bruins pulled Jonas Korpisalo, but weren't able to tie up the game.
Overall, the Bruins looked extremely fatigued in this game. Tonight was the second game of a back-to-back in which they traveled to New York for, which isn't easy.
Nonetheless, their performance was still lackluster with Boston consistently making the same offensive mistakes. The first half of this game the Bruins didn't do anything offensively only recording five shots on goal through 30 minutes. If it weren't for their two goals in a span of 16 seconds, this game could've been a shutout. Despite their power play looking better over the past couple weeks, it completely fell apart in this game and that was a main contributor into their loss. Another frustrating one for Bruins fans.
The Bruins will return back to Boston as they will take on the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday. Puck drop will be at 3:30 p.m.
