Final: Oilers 3, Bruins 2 (F/OT) - Bruins lose final game of road trip as Oilers complete comeback in overtime
In their final game of their five-game west-coast road trip, the Bruins lose in overtime to the Edmonton Oilers 3-2. After one of their best first periods this entire season, Boston wasn't able to keep their momentum only picking up one point in this game.
The Bruins scored their only two goals of the game in a dominant first period. A minute into the game, Elias Lindholm scored his second goal in consecutive games squeaking a shot past Stuart Skinner

Later in the period, Mark Kastelic scored a backhand goal skating with speed into the offensive zone while crashing towards the net.

Overall, the Bruins played an energetic and physical first period against a the Oilers. They finally showed that they could win corner battles with their physicality, and it resulted in more shots and opportunities in the offensive zone. The Bruins also played with a lot of speed in this period which helped them get to pucks easier.
However, this strong play didn't last, as the Oilers began to chip away on Boston's lead. Edmonton scored their first goal in the second period as Zach Hyman scored on a screen shot that got the better of Jeremy Swayman.
In the third period, Boston wasn't able to keep their lead, as they struggled keeping the puck out of their own defensive zone. The Bruins played good defense in their zone, but missed passed and a lack of offensive production resulted in constant pressure from the Oilers. Eventually, with less than five minutes left in the period, Connor McDavid crashed the net and scored the game-tying goal which sent the game into overtime.
In overtime, Edmonton ended up getting the extra point as Mattias Janmark scored in front of the slot after a rebound chance.

While it wasn't the end result the Bruins wanted in this game, getting a point against the reigning Western Conference champions is at least something to be happy about while returning back home. Considering how the start of the road trip went for Boston (8-1 loss to Jets and 5-1 loss to Kraken), getting five points in their last three games is promising. Getting secondary offense from Lindholm, McLaughlin, and other bottom six players is something that can hopefully stick with Boston going forward.
The Bruins will play their next game at home as the Buffalo Sabres come to Boston Saturday at 7 p.m.
