Final: Maple Leafs 3, Bruins 0 - Maple Leafs score 3 straight power play goals as Bruins get shut out taken at BSJ Live Coverage (Bruins)

After winning their previous two games via the shutout, the Bruins get shut out by the Maple Leafs 4-0 in disappointing fashion. Like in many losses the Bruins had this season, careless penalties and lackluster offense resulted in a lopsided loss to their original six rival. After a scoreless first period, the Maple Leafs scored two consecutive power play goals to give the Maple Leafs a 2-0 lead. The first was after a careless interference penalty from Nikita Zadorov. The second power play goal resulted from a high sticking penalty from David Pastrnak. In the third period, the Bruins would get another penalty from Mark Kastelic for interference. Kastelic's penalty would  result in the third power play goal from the Maple Leafs dying any chance of Boston coming back into the game. The Bruins had their power play chances in this game, but careless turnovers and a great goaltending performance from Anthony Stolarz lead to Boston getting shutout. Toronto would add an empty net goal with five minutes left which iced the game. A rough game after the Bruins showed signs of improvement.

The Bruins will head back to Boston to face the Calgary Flames on Thursday. Puck drop will be 7 p.m.

PREGAME NOTES

The Bruins travel to the Maple Leafs tonight in the second of four games between these teams this season and the first of two Boston visits to Scotiabank Arena.

In Sunday's 2-0 win against the Seattle Kraken, Jim Montgomery benched David Pastrnak for the third period. According to MassLIve, Montgomery said it was a coach’s decision and wouldn’t comment further.

Former Tampa Bay Lightning Tyler Johnson signed a one-year contract Monday with a cap hit of $775,000. He will play his first game with the Bruins tonight.

The Bruins have placed Max Jones on waivers for the purpose of sending him to the AHL according to MassLIve. If Jones clears by 2 p.m. on Wednesday he can join the Providence Bruins.
