Final: Mammoth 3, Bruins 2 - Bruins lose their fourth straight game taken at BSJ Headquarters (Top Bruins)

The Boston Bruins lose their fourth straight game with a 3-2 loss against the Utah Mammoth.

Yet again, it was a unfulfilling offensive game for the Bruins, and that lack of offense couldn't give them the edge over the Mammoth.

Through the first two periods of the game, both teams traded goals while also having opportunities on the power play.

The Mammoth had the first chance on the power play five minutes into the first period, and Logan Cooley put Utah on the board with an awkward play in from of Joonas Korpisalo.

Five minutes remaining in the first period, the Bruins had their chance on the man-advantage, and David Pastrnak tied it up after receiving a pass from the point.

Early into the second period, Pastrnak put the Bruins in front with his second goal of the night. On an odd-man rush, Pastrnak and Marat Khusnutdinov passed it to each other a couple times before Pastrnak buried a shot past Vitek Vanecek.

For the remainder of the game, the Bruins struggled to generate more offense and spent the rest of the game fighting off offensive chances by the Mammoth. Utah's first line skated with the puck around the Bruins, and Nate Schmidt delivered a cross-crease pass to Clayton Keller to tie the game again.

Much of the same happened in the third period. The Bruins couldn't keep themselves out of the penalty box, and they failed to execute breakouts out of their own zone.

Midway into the third period, the Bruins missed on a breakout attempt, and JJ Peterka found Dylan Guenther for the game-winning one-timer goal.

The Bruins didn't have the urgency to tie the game, and Mammoth ended up with the victory.

The unnecessary penalties and constant turnovers have become kryptonite for the Bruins. It results in too much time playing in their own zone and constant pressure towards their goalies. Korpisalo played a great game, but he didn't receive the help to give him a break.

The Bruins will now go back home to face the Panthers on Tuesday. Puck drop will be at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN.

PREGAME NOTES

The Boston Bruins wrap up their west coast road trip with a game against the Utah Mammoth.

Joonas Korpisalo gets the start tonight after Jeremy Swayman started yesterday in Colorado.

Yesterday, Marco Sturm benched his first line in a 4-1 loss to the Avalanche. Sturm benched David Pastrnak for the last 7:55 and Elias Lindholm for the last 12:05. Pavel Zacha played just four third-period shifts.

"I really like our D-Zone. I liked our kill. Our goalie was great. Defense. These guys work," Sturm said. “We need the rest to dial in and buy in with what we want to do. It’s not going to get easier. We have to learn from it and move on.”
