PREGAME NOTES
This will be the second meeting between the Bruins and the Islanders this season. Boston won, 4-3 in a shootout, at home on Dec. 13.
The Bruins are looking for their third-straight win and a seventh victory in eight games since the start of 2023. Boston has earned points in seven-straight road games, going 6-0-1. Koppanen was recalled from Providence of the AHL and will slot in for Nosek. Jim Montgomery said Tuesday, “it’s one more game to let [Nosek] get back to 100 percent health.” Ullmark did not skate in Wednesday’s optional morning skate but could start after Swayman posted a shutout in Monday’s 6-0 win over Philadelphia. Montgomery did not officially name a starter.
The Islanders are 2-4-2 in eight games since Jan. 1. They have won six in a row at home against Boston. New York recalled Cholowski and Dufour from Bridgeport of the AHL on Wednesday. Dufour, a 2020 fifth-round pick (152nd overall), will make his NHL debut. Varlamov was the first goaltender off the ice at morning skate and is expected to start.
