Final: Canucks 1, Bruins 0 - DeBrusk scores 1st goal of game in his return to Boston as Bruins get shut out by Vancouver taken at BSJ Headquarters (Bruins)

After winning their previous two games, the Bruins get shutout at home by the Vancouver Canucks 2-0. In their last three games, Boston has only scored three goals, and this game especially showed the lack of offense the Bruins produced this season.

It was an evenly balanced first period for the Bruins and Canucks, with both teams only recording three shots on goal through the first 20 minutes. However with a power play attempt in the second period, Vancouver scored the first goal of the game as former Bruin Jake DeBrusk backhanded a shot into the open net.

With a minute left in the game, Vancouver scored an empty net goal from Conor Garland sealing the victory and the shutout for Kevin Lankinen.

Simply put, this was a hard watch. The Bruins shot the puck over 30 times in this game getting multiple changes on the power play, yet they leave this game being shutout.

Despite showing signs of improvement in their past two games, the Bruins went back to their poor offensive habits. They couldn't make accurate shots or passes, they lacked bodies in front of the goalie, and they couldn't win face-offs.

While on the power play, Boston severely struggled to keep the puck in their zone. They made it really easy for Vancouver to dump the puck down the other side of the ice, and it killed all the time Boston had with the man advantage. No matter what line combination gets puck together, the Bruins still can't put points on the board, and it's not going to translate to wins.

The Bruins will now head to Long Island to face off against the Islanders tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.

PREGAME NOTES

The Bruins host the Canucks tonight in the first of two games between these teams this season and Vancouver’s lone visit to TD Garden this season.

The Bruins have won their first two games under Interim Head Coach Joe Sacco with a 1-0 win vs. Utah on Nov. 21 and a 2-1 win in Detroit on Nov. 23.

DeBrusk will make his first trip back to TD Garden tonight. “Packing for this one gets you excited. It’s definitely weird being back. I was here for a long time,” DeBrusk said. “It was like a second home for me in some ways. It’s nice to be back in this area.”
