PREGAME NOTES
The Bruins will commence their centennial season Wednesday night, while the Blackhawks are coming off a season-opening 4-2 comeback win in Pittsburgh on Tuesday.
Rookie sensation Connor Bedard had an assist, while old friend Nick Foligno sealed the win with the empty-netter. Former Bruins Taylor Hall and Ryan Donato will return to TD Garden as well. Foligno and Hall were part of the trade that netted Ian Mitchell (scratched) and Alec Regula (Providence) over the summer.
Soderblom will start for Chicago after Mrazek made 38 saves against the Penguins.
Ullmark will get the start for Boston as he tries to follow up his Vezina-winning season, while the B's try to bounce back from a record-setting year that fizzled out in the first round.
The B's will see a number of new faces make their debut in Black and Gold, including rookies Matt Poitras and Johnny Beecher as well as newcomers Kevin Shattenkirk, Morgan Geekie and James van Riemsdyk. Milan Lucic will officially begin his Bruins comeback.
Boston recalled Patrick Brown on Monday after waiving him over the weekend. He will be the extra forward as Danton Heinen remains unsigned on his PTO with the team. The Bruins, still tight to the salary cap, have asked Heinen to be patient regarding a timeline on when he signs a contract.
