FINAL: Bruins 4, Hurricanes 1 - Marchand's 400th goal helps power Boston past Carolina taken at BSJ Headquarters (Bruins)

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

The Bruins defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 4-1 at PNC Arena on Thursday night behind Brad Marchand's 400th goal. With this win, the Bruins finish the road trip with a 4-2 record.

KEY TAKEAWAYS:

  • Marchand records career goal number 400.
  • Boston scored three goals in the first 10:46 of the game.
  • Bruins struggled to play a full 60 minutes as they got sloppy towards the end of the second period.
  • Took too many penalties which kept the Hurricanes in the game.
  • Power play was awful tonight, especially during the 5-on-3. Granted, Carolina has the best penalty kill in the NHL, but the Bruins will need to figure something out.
  • Bruins add to their lead over Florida in the Atlantic Division.
  • David Pastrnak scored his 47th goal of the season tonight.

The Bruins return to TD Garden on Saturday for a matinee matchup with the Florida Panthers at 3:30 p.m.
