FINAL: Flyers 3, Bruins 2 - Flyers goal with 1:29 left the difference

 The same old mistakes cost the Bruins today as they fell to the Flyers 3-2 on Saturday afternoon. After a quiet first two periods, the Bruins fought their way back twice only to give up a go-ahead goal with 1:29 left in regulation. This goal came right after Linus Ullmark made a game-saving save on a breakaway just for Tyson Foerster to score a little later.

 It is the same story for the Bruins where they gave up late goals which hurt them again. While you would hope Ullmark could've made that last save, the bigger issue to me was that the Flyers had an easy entry because the Bruins had nobody back on defense. 

Some other things that caught my eye were that Justin Brazeau scored to originally tie the game at one which was his fourth goal in three games. What a story he has become lately this season with his steps to stardom. 

Something else that caught my attention was that the Bruins were outshot 15-7 in the third period. That is another case of the Bruins once again not playing a complete game and showing any urgency. The problem is the first two periods were worse because they were completely sleepwalking. Jim Montgomery mentioned after the game  that the shots on goal for both sides were low because of the checking. The Bruins have a tough schedule ahead of them and this was a very winnable game that they let slip away. It feels like the Bruins are just mailing it in until the playoffs at this point. Especially, since they are facing some teams that are desperate for points to either stay in the playoff race or make the playoffs. Their weaknesses get exposed a lot in these situations. 

The Bruins will continue their road trip on Tuesday night in Florida when they face the Panthers at 7 p.m.

The Bruins begin a six-game road trip in Philadelphia at 1 p.m. Boston enters today coming off a 5-2 loss to the New York Rangers at TD Garden on Thursday night. Jake DeBrusk enters today with 11 points in his last nine games. 

The Bruins face a Philadelphia team that is coming off a 3-2 overtime loss at Carolina on Thursday night. The Flyers are 4-4-2 over their last 10 games and own an 18-14-3 home record.
