FINAL: Bruins 4, Blue Jackets 1 - B's extend win streak to four games in offensive burst taken at BSJ Headquarters  (Bruins)

The Bruins defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-1 on Tuesday night extending their win streak to four games and are now 4-0 after the Christmas Break. 

After a scoreless first period that saw Boston get outshot 12-5, the Bruins responded  2:12 into the second period thanks to goal from Kevin Shattenkirk to give the B's a 1-0 lead. The Blue Jackets responded two minutes afterwards thanks to a goal from Kent Johnson to tie it at one. From there it was all Boston as James Van Riemsdyk scored at the 13:07 mark on the power play to give the Bruins a 2-1 lead. 

Danton Heinen continued the scoring in the third period at the 7:29 mark to extend Boston's lead to 3-1. 

Trent Frederic put the finishing touches on at the 15:54 mark to make it 4-1. 

Linus Ullmark finished in net with 26 saves for the Bruins. 

The Bruins will be back in action on Thursday night when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins at 7 p.m.

The Bruins begin 2024 in Columbus where they finish their two-game road trip to take on the Blue Jackets at 7 p.m. Jim Montgomery told reporters this morning that James Van Riemsdyk will return to the lineup to skate alongside Trent Frederic and Danton Heinen, leaving Jonny Beecher as the odd man out tonight. 

Boston faces a Columbus team that enters tonight coming off a 3-2 loss in overtime on Saturday at Buffalo.The Blue Jackets are 8-7-4 in their last 19 games, and are one of the top-scoring teams in the NHL on 5-on-5 and have two of the top rookies under the category of points. On the flip side, Columbus finds themselves in last place in the Metropolitan Division and currently have six players on injured-reserve, three of them that are forwards include: Boone Jenner, Patrik Laine and Sean Kurlay. The Blue Jackets have gone to overtime in their last three games, but losing two of them. Johnny Gaudreau paces Columbus with seven goals and 18 assists on the season.
