Final: Bruins 4, Blue Jackets 3 (F/SO) - Bruins complete comeback in shootout after allowing three goals in first period

Game Notes

Poor Start: To start the game, the Bruins played one of their worst periods of hockey by allowing three unanswered goals to the Columbus Blue Jackets. Bruins allowed two consecutive goals between 13-12 minutes of the first period, and then allowed a power play goal to former Bruin Charlie Coyle.

Flipping the Ice: In the second period, the Bruins played more of their style of hockey. They generated more shots on goal and spent more ice time in their offensive zone. Despite scoring no goals, the Bruins played a much more improved period.

The Comeback: The Bruins tied the game, scoring three goals to send the game into overtime. Charlie McAvoy started the scoring with a slap shot goal from the point, and Pavel Zacha followed a couple minutes later with a tipped goal on the power play.

Down by one goal with less than a minute remaining, the Blue Jackets committed a penalty, and Zacha scored his second goal of the game to head into overtime. 

Shootout Victory: After five minutes with neither side scoring, the game went into a shootout. Fraser Minten scored the first goal of the shootout, and Jeremy Swayman made consecutive saves. However, with the game on his stick, Coyle kept the Blue Jackets alive to tie the shootout.

In the bottom of the third round, Viktor Arvidsson had his turn to win the game, and right-handed forwarded netted a backhand goal to give the Bruins two points in the contest.

\The Bruins will travel back to Boston to take on the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. Puck drop will be at 7 p.m.
