Final: Bruins 4, Mammoth 1 - Geekie scores twice, Boston scores four unanswered
The Boston Bruins win their first game of a five game home stand with a 4-1 victory over the Utah Mammoth.
It was a slow start to the game for the Bruins, but they picked themselves up and commanded the game with shutdown penalty killing and consistent goal scoring.
Seven minutes into the game, Pavel Zacha was called for tripping, and the Mammoth scored the first goal of the game on the man advantage. The Bruins struggled to gain possession of the puck in their defensive zone, and Barrett Hayden scored off a pass from the point by Sean Durzi.

Later in the first period, the Bruins had a chance to tie the game with their first power play opportunity, and Morgan Geekie delivered. Boston's first power play unit did a great job moving the puck around the net, and David Pastrnak sneaked a pass through the slot to Geekie, who delivered a shot past Vitek Vanecek.

The Bruins kept the foot on the gas pedal the remainder of the game. 13 seconds into the second period, Geekie scored his second goal of the game off a rebound in front of the net.

Utah had no answers on offense, and the Bruins went into the second intermission up one goal.
In the final period, the Bruins added two more goals to their lead to put the game out of reach. Casey Mittelstadt scored off a inaccurate shot that redirected off the boards, and Michael Eyssimont iced the game with a pretty backhand goal past Vanecek.

The Bruins played a clean game following an ugly start. After struggling to gain possession of the puck, the Bruins settled in and played their brand of hockey to get the victory. Tonight was another great game on special teams, as the Bruins killed two of three power play attempts by the Mammoth.
Boston will now take on the Oilers, who come to town on Thursday. Puck drop will be at 7 p.m.

PREGAME NOTES
The Boston Bruins begin a five game home stand taking on the Utah Mammoth tonight.
The Bruins claimed defenseman Vladislav Kolyachonok off waivers from the Dallas Stars. Kolyachonok is a left shot defenseman who played in 11 games for Dallas. He only recorded one goal and one assist. The Bruins are using Kolyachonok for depth on the blue line after Jonathan Aspirot suffered an upper-body injury against Winnipeg.
Tonight is the second and final time the Bruins will face the Mammoth this season. On October 19th, Utah defeated Boston 3-2.
Andrew Raycroft will be in the booth along with Judd Sirott and Andy Brickley.
