PREGAME NOTES

After rolling with a number of lineup regulars on Saturday against the Flyers, the B’s will primarily feature some bottom-six candidates on Monday down in New Jersey. Both A.J. Greer and Jack Studnicka will be looking to build off of strong performances last week against the Rangers, while Trent Frederic will look to shore up his spot on the third line next to Charlie Coyle and Craig Smith.

With cuts looming, it will be interesting to see if skaters like Oskar Steen, Johnny Beecher, Connor Carrick, Jack Ahcan and others can extend their stay up in Boston for at least a few more days with a strong performance against the Devils.

Another potential player worth watching is Tomas Nosek, who is bumped to the wing and skating on a third line with Steen and Joona Koppanen. After an underwhelming camp so far, Nosek needs a strong game to warrant more playing time down the stretch.

Taylor Hall’s week-to-week designation stands as a tough pill to swallow, but the Bruins did get some good news on the injury front Monday. Both Matt Grzelcyk and Fabian Lysell skated during Monday’s practice, albeit in red, non-contact sweaters.

"I think he's slightly ahead of schedule, as far as the reports I've heard," Jim Montgomery said of Grzelcyk. "But today's the first day with the group as it was scheduled to me and he's not in contact. I don't know how long he's not in contact, but right now it's non-contact."
