PREGAME NOTES

With Nick Foligno, Craig Smith, Anton Blidh and Curtis Lazar all ruled out due to injury, the B’s are dipping into their depth down in Providence for reinforcements this afternoon. Jack Studnicka will center a fourth line between Trent Frederic and Karson Kuhlman, while Oskar Steen will play on the third line. 

On the second line, Tomas Nosek will remain at center — with Charlie Coyle bumped over to the wing. 

Linus Ullmark will get the start in net for the second game in a row. 

The Sharks — who were expected to be in the midst of a grueling rebuild this year — are looking to go 5-0-0 to open a season for the first time since the 2013-14 season. 

Boston has had San Jose’s number over the last few seasons — with the B’s posting a record of 5-0-2 over their last seven meetings with the Sharks. The last time that the Sharks posted a win at TD Garden was back on Nov. 15, 2016.
