Michael Hurley grew up in Arlington with the plans to one day play shortstop for the Boston Red Sox. While that career path remains the plan, he's taken up sportswriting as a side hustle in the meantime.
A graduate of Roger Williams University, Michael worked for NESN from 2009-12 before heading to CBS Boston, where he covered all Boston sports for 12 years. With regular appearances on NBC Sports Boston and 98.5 The Sports Hub over the years, he's almost assuredly bothered you with a take or two. For that, he is very sorry. He has submitted his work for awards exactly once in his career, and he ended up being tied for third in the PFWA's Dave Anderson Column Writing in 2021. (He tells people he won. Just to avoid bogging anyone down with too many details.)
A father of three girls, Hurley writes most of his stories while a drum set collects dust directly behind him.
