FINAL: Toronto Blue Jays 9, Red Sox 4 - Bello Gives Up Seven in Third, Sox Can't Storm Back
The Red Sox (43-37) have their win streak snapped at three at the hands of the Toronto Blue Jays (36-43), with a final score of 9-4.

Boston jumped out to a 2-0 lead with two run shot by Rafael Devers, where the ball was sent to orbit, or more realistically, 467 feet into the center field bleachers. From there the wheels fell off. The other two runs came from a Tyler O'Neill home run over the green monster to make it 9-4 in the bottom of the sixth. The Sox would get only five total hits tonight, but four of them were extra base hits, with doubles from Devers and Masataka Yoshida.
Brayan Bello struggled once again against the Jays like last week, but this time around he wasn't able to get out of jams. He pitched only two and a third innings, giving up seven runs on five hits, walking three and striking out two. All seven runs were scored in the top of the third. While two errors were committed in that inning, Bello still could not do his job of getting outs. Greg Weissert would come in to finish the third in six pitches.
My Player of the Game: Josh Winckowski - After a poor start from Bello, Winckowski was tasked with finishing out the game, beginning in the fourth. He pitched six innings, where he gave up only two runs on six hits, walking just one batter, and getting a new career high in eight strikeouts. A great long relief performance for Winckowski after being called back up from Worcester on Monday morning.
Tomorrow's rubber match will begin at 7:10 p.m.. Probable starters are Yariel Rodriguez (0-2, 5.94 ERA) and Kutter Crawford (3-7, 3.59 ERA).

WHAT'S UP
The Red Sox last night earned their 3rd walk-off win of the season (also 5/14 vs. TB and 4/28 vs. CHC). BOS trailed 6-2 through 7 innings before tying the game, 6-6, in the bottom of the 8th. Jarren Duran (3-for-5, 2 R, 2B, RBI) hit a walk-off RBI single in the 9th inning, his 1st career walk-off RBI.
With a win tonight or tomorrow, the Sox would improve to 13-9-4 in series play (7-4-2 at home). The Sox have won a season-high 4 consecutive series (2-1 vs. PHI, 2-1 vs. NYY, 3-0 at TOR, 2-1 at CIN), their longest streak since 6/30-7/16/23 (also 4)...The last time they won as many as 5 consecutive series was from 6/3-26/22 (7 straight). They're undefeated in their last 7 series (4-0-3), their longest streak since 5/31-6/26/22 (7-0-1).
At 14-7 (.667) during June, the Sox lead MLB this month in wins and lead the AL in winning percentage. The Sox lead MLB this month in AVG (.288) and OBP (.357) while ranking 2nd in OPS (.830) and runs scored (119).
Boston is 34-4 (.895) when scoring 5+ runs, the 4th-best record in MLB (SEA: .929, NYY: .907, BAL: .900). They've won each of their last 18 games when doing so. The Sox have scored 5+ runs in 8 of their last 12 games.
Jarren Duran is on a careerlong 14-game hitting streak, the AL's 2nd-longest active streak (1st: TB's Yandy Díaz-17 G). Connor Wong (currently on Paternity Leave List) owns the AL's 3rd-longest active hitting streak at 13 games.
The Red Sox lead the American League with 78 stolen bases (5th in MLB)...They have not finished a season leading the AL in SB since 1935 (91). Their 29 stolen bases from 6/7-23 were their most in a 15-game span during the Live-Ball Era (1920-present). David Hamilton ranks T-4th in MLB and T-2nd in the AL with 21 SB, while Jarren Duran ranks T-6th in MLB and T-4th in the AL with 20. They're the only teammates with 20+ SB each this season. They're just the 2nd pair of Red Sox to ever record 20+ SB within the team's first 80 games, joining Tommy Dowd and Chick Stahl in the club's inaugural 1901 season.
