A curt (presser lasted four minutes) and subdued Mike Vrabel said Friday that A.J. Brown will be questionable for the Dolphins game with ankle and knee injuries that kept him out of practice the last two days.
"His status is questionable, like some other players," Vrabel said. "We'll see how he comes in tomorrow, and then we'll make a decision."
Vrabel was asked if the knee was something that popped up in practice.
"Yeah, I mean, just like everything else, when you come out of the game or a long week of practice on Monday, evaluate the player," he said. "Yeah, just wasn't able to to be able to practice or finish practice on Wednesday, and so we continue to treat him, and then we'll see where he is tomorrow."
Vrabel had an interesting answer when it came to a question about whether the team may have rushed Brown back.
"I don't think those things are really ... I think those are separate issues here," Vrabel said.
I'm going to take that if you're asking about whether Brown was rushed back from the high ankle sprain, that's one thing. But it seems like the bigger concern is Brown's right knee flaring up, which is the one that has given him trouble for years. That's not ideal.
Vrabel was also about Brown's excessive workloads against the Jets and Bears, which basically amounted to 90% of the snaps in the span of five days.
"We want our best players to play, and I would consider him one of those," Vrabel said. "And I mean, again, we're really here focused on trying to get a win on the road in the division, and we'll make a decision on the guys that are questionable tomorrow."
Basically, it was a deflection, and then he had another one on whether this could be a long-term thing for Brown.
"I'm focused on today. I'm focused on getting the team ready to go down to Miami and win. That's what my focus is," Vrabel said. "I don't concern myself with things that you know. You waste time worrying."
TreVeyon Henderson (illness) and Christian Elliss (chest) are also truly questionable. Vrabel said the other "usual suspects" will be listed on the injury report released later today.
He was not asked about the report from Albert Breer that said Christian Barmore is available in a trade.
