After a long night/day in Baltimore, we're back at it. Decided just to break down the two offensive drives and one defense after the Patriots fell behind 24-13 with 12:50 remaining. Almost all of it is going to be in video form since we're behind on work, but here's my one big takeaway:
I just loved how Drake Maye, who wasn't perfect during this stretch, made a huge correction from last week that will serve him and the team very well going forward: he just took the shorter plays that were there, and when he had a chance deep one on one, he took it. Maye threw two bombs during this stretch, but for the entire fourth quarter, just 21% of his attempts were 10+ yards pass the line of scrimmage. In the loss to the Bills, it was 50%.
These were the completions on the two drives: 6, 5, 9, 5, 9, 37TD, 20, 4, 9, 8, 21 (on a much shorter pass) and 6 yards. That's how you do it, especially if you're a Patriots quarterback in Josh McDaniels' system.
