ANOTHER UPDATE:
Stefon Diggs has concluded his visit with the Patriots without a deal and none is imminent. The two sides will keep in touch. This was more of an introductory meeting and health check.

UPDATE:
The Patriots have free-agent WR Stefon Diggs in for a visit in Foxboro today (@ChadGraff 1st), per sources. He had dinner with staffers last night, and has meetings and will take a physical today—which is big, b/c he's coming back off a torn ACL.

It's Diggs' first known visit.
Could Stefon Diggs be the answer to one of the Patriots' many problems?
The free agent wide receiver is in Foxborough and visiting with the team on Wednesday. According to league sources, the two sides are getting to know each other to determine whether they are a possible match.
Diggs is familiar to new wide receiver coach Todd Downing. The two overlapped in Minnesota. Josh McDaniels' brother, Ben, was Diggs' position coach this past season in Houston.
Diggs is coming off a torn ACL suffered in late October. There is no timetable for a return, although per a source, the 31-year-old (he turns 32 in November) hasn't experienced any setbacks in his recovery. The Pats want to find out more for themselves. Diggs is unlikely to be a full-go for the start of training camp, but a return to game action in under a year is not uncommon. Most recently, Kendrick Bourne blew out his knee on October 31, 2023, and suited up for the Pats in a regular season game on October 6, 2004.
Diggs was cooking for the Texans before the injury, with nearly 500 yards receiving and three touchdowns. He also was named a team captain, which flies in the face of his reputation in Buffalo and Minnesota.
The Pats are thin at wide receiver, and after balking at the price tag for Cooper Kupp and D.K. Metcalf and failing to convince Chris Godwin to leave Tampa, Diggs could certainly make the case he'd be the best player in that room, assuming he can rediscover his pre-injury form. After being more successful as an outside receiver, the Texans had Diggs line up more in the slot, which led to good results.
