Site News: BSJ celebrates 6th birthday by welcoming Mike Giardi to the staff; more updates taken at BSJ Headquarters (Site News)

AP

Happy 6th birthday to BSJ and its valued members! We can't tell you how appreciative we are.

Six years and still standing ... not sure I thought that was going to happen but here we are! Can't thank my wife, Mrs. BSJ, enough. She's the backbone of this thing.

Some very good news...

BSJ decided to give itself a birthday present this year: veteran NFL/Patriots reporter Mike Giardi is coming on board to help cover the Patriots with me. I've known Mike for years and have always had the utmost respect for his reporting, writing, football knowledge and his deep sourcing around the team. Plus, he's an all-around heck of a guy. We obviously feel we'll make a very strong tandem on the Patriots and hope you'll continue to support us, or come aboard for the first time (or back again)! Wasn't happy at the time of his layoff (I know how it feels), but NFL Network's loss is our gain. His football knowledge, from his own playing career and being the son of former Falmouth High and UMass Boston coach Gus Giardi, is second to none. I couldn't be more excited to work with him.

A little more about Mike:

Joined NFL Network from NBC Sports Boston, where he served as the primary Patriots beat reporter contributing coverage both on television and digitally — but he contributed on every sport. Prior to joining NBC Sports Boston in 2009, Giardi covered Boston sports for New England Cable News for nine years. Giardi's work in Boston also includes contributions to 98.5 The Sports Hub and WEEI Radio.

Giardi graduated from Trinity College and received a Master's Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Boston University. Born in Hooksett, NH and raised in Falmouth.

SITE CHANGES

Thanks for getting in so many responses to the survey. I've been reading them all, and the insight is invaluable. We're still formulating our plans for the site at large going forward.

  • One thing I can tell you: we are raising the price of a subscription for only the second time to $50 annually, $120 for three years, and $7 a month.

HOWEVER ... if you can't afford the increase, we don't want you to leave. Just send us a Support Request and we'll take care of it. It's not a big deal. We're just trying to run a business and the more we have, the more coverage we can provide. But circumstances are different for everybody. We understand.

(Just as a note ... due to the changeover in our system, most people never paid the last increase. But everyone will be brought up to the same annual/monthly level now. Again, if there's a big issue with it, just let us know.)

EVEN BETTER ... we're offering $10 off an annual subscription to celebrate Mike's arrival. So if you want the best Patriots coverage in town this season, now is the time to get in on it. Just use the promo code: BSJMIKE

AND ... I've heard you loud and clear ... merchandise is coming to BSJ.

Another year, now with Giardi ... let's do this!
