HEADLINES

The Red Sox pounded the Mets for 15 hits, including 11 over the first three innings, and seven straight hits to open the third innings. Rafael Devers (2-for-3) mashed his 24th homer in the sixth innings, a 413-foot blast into right-center field.

Boston defeated the Mets, 6-1 at Fenway Park to win the three-game series.

Every Red Sox batter recorded a hit in the game except Masataka Yoshida (0-for-5).

Jarren Duran, Devers, Adam Duvall, Triston Casas and Kiké Hernández had two hits. Connor Wong (3-for-4) had three hits and a stolen base. Duvall (2-for-4) drove in two runs over the first three innings on two doubles.

Brennan Bernardino was effective in the opener role once again. The southpaw pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings while allowing one hit and no walks with three strikeouts.

With the series win, the Sox improved to 53-47 on the season. They are now within two games of the Blue Jays for the third wild-card spot.

TURNING POINT

Justin Turner (double), Devers (single), Duvall (RBI double), Casas (RBI double), Wong (single), Hernández (single) and Yu Chang (RBI single) were all part of the seven straight hit parade in the third inning.

Boston scored four runs during the seven-hit attack in the third inning.

UP

Chris Murphy pitched in relief of Bernardino as a bulk reliever. He tossed 3 2/3 innings and allowed one run, three hits and two walks with three strikeouts. The left-hander now owns a 1.80 ERA in 25 innings this season.

Josh Winckowski looked strong in relief, replacing Murphy in the sixth inning. With runners on the corners and one out, Winckowski struck out both Pete Alonso and Mark Vientos swinging to end the frame. The right-hander was visibly fired up, screaming as he walked off the field following the strikeouts.

The bullpen continued to work clean innings after Murphy with Joely Rodríguez pitching a scoreless seventh. Joe Jacques recorded the first two outs in the eight inning but after putting two runners on with a walk and hitting a batter, Alex Cora opted for Chris Martin. The veteran had a minor miscue, getting crossed up with Chang when throwing the ball to second. The ball went into centerfield instead. Martin would strike out Dan Vogelbach in an 11-pitch at-bat.

Left-hander Brandon Walter worked a scoreless ninth frame to end the game.

Red Sox pitching allowed just one run off six hits in the bullpen game.

DOWN

Yoshida was the only batter to be held hitless in the Sox lineup.

The only run surrendered by Murphy came in the second inning. After walking the leadoff hitter and then a single that put runners on first and second, Francisco Lindor tagged the Green Monster in left-center plating the Mets' lone run of the game.

New York picked off Duran at first base in the sixth inning, caught leaning too far in the direction of second base and David Petersen fired to Alonso at first to get the speedy Duran.
