Odds n' Ends: Jaylen Brown back in Boston; Grant Williams spills the tea

Every time I’ve done one of my “thoughts on…” columns, people have jumped into the comments and said “more of these!” So I’m planning on doing them more regularly. Right now I’m going to call it “Odds n’ Ends,” but if you have a better idea for a title, let me know in the comments. 

- Jaylen Brown is back in town, so we can expect his contract to get done soon. 

There's too much equating Brown highlighting deficiencies in Boston with him not liking it here. He’s going to say the same stuff of every city he’s in because he’s going to encounter it in every city he’s in. 

He’s trying to change things in a community most of us are unfamiliar with. I applaud him for it.

- Grant Williams spilled the tea on Joe Mazzulla’s coaching. 

Basically, this is everything we knew about Mazzulla vs. Ime Udoka. Udoka focused on defense and leaned on his players and experience. Mazzulla focused on offense and focused on numbers and statistical trends. 

Bottom line: this is why Sam Cassell and Charles Lee are here. 

- Kemba Walker has signed with AS Monaco. Instead of kicking back and enjoying his money, he’s going to keep playing. 

I love this move so much. Instead of sitting around and waiting for a call, he’s going to go live in paradise and get paid to play basketball. Good for him.

I know Greg has a poll going on right now … if you guys really love me you’ll all use it to push for him to create Monaco Sports Journal so I can go cover Kemba. 

- Rest In Peace Tony Bennett. Frank Sinatra once called him “the best singer in the business.” A true legend. 

- It’s time to get excited about summer workouts!! 

All Robert Williams needs to do is take three shots that aren’t dunks per game. Give me a jump hook, a counter to that, and one 15 footer. That's all he needs. 

Let's not discount how important it is for Rob to have a full summer of workouts either. This is his first normal offseason in a while.

- I get all the excitement about Oppenheimer, but I’m not sitting there for three hours. I’ll watch it when I can pause the movie and take a break. No one tell me how it ends. 

- Malcolm Brogdon is reportedly off the table. At this point, it’s probably more because the Celtics point guard depth can’t take another hit without bringing another PG back. 

- Shout out to Payton Pritchard for making the USA Select Team. 

- I don’t believe Joel Embiid was trolling when he said “I just want to win a championship. Whatever it takes … whether it's in Philly or anywhere else, I just want to have a chance to accomplish that.”

Embiid knows what he’s doing. He’s telling the front office to stop messing around with James Harden and give him a supporting cast … or else. 

I don’t think Embiid will ever win a title, but if he does, it won’t be in Philly. 

- Tim Hardaway needs to be banned from basketball analysis for saying Bol Bol is better than Victor Wembanyama

There are hot takes, scorching hot takes, and then there's this, which is ‘melt your face off by looking at the Ark of the Covenant’-level bad. 

- Elon Musk ruined Twitter by letting just anyone pay for verification. A fake account got Draymond Green, who fell for a fabricated Kevin Garnett quote and then fired off a terse response. 

Maybe the sequel to Oppenheimer can be the story of how someone was able to nuke all social media, because I think that's run its course.
