B's come back to beat Leafs, take season series: David Pastrnak tallied his 57th goal of the season in overtime as the Bruins beat the Maple Leafs, 2-1, on Thursday at TD Garden.

"Honestly, I was just trying to set up [Orlov] for a one-timer," Pastrnak said. "But he kept passing back, so I got it by the D and it ended up in the net, so obviously a nice goal."

The B's erased a 1-0 Maple Leafs lead with two unanswered strikes on their way to their 61st win of the season.

Pastrak's overtime one-timer also gave the B's a 3-1 edge in the season series against Toronto, as the Bruins took the last three meetings against the Maple Leafs this regular season.

Jeremy Swayman and Ilya Samsonov each earned 31 saves in net for their respective teams.

"It was a special one," Swayman said. "The crowd was into it the whole time and the magnitude of the game, sending a message still. We know they're a playoff team and we could see them down the road so it was a special win, for sure."

Neither team found the back of the net through the opening 20 minutes, despite a couple power play chances from the Maple Leafs.

Sam Lafferty scored in the second period to put the Maple Leafs ahead, 1-0. Zach Ashton-Reese sent a slap-pass on the B's net and Lafferty was in the right spot to direct the puck in at 11:34.

It wasn't until midway through the third period that the Bruins evened the score on a goal from Coyle. Following a skilled keep-in from Brandon Carlo at the blueline, Coyle grabbed the puck in the slot and wristed it in, tying the game at 1-1 at 11:32 of the third.

The score held through regulation, setting up Pastrnak's overtime winner in the extra period. A Bruins power play had just expired when No. 88 smashed home the clincher.

"I think he has great leaders in front of him that he's learned from in [Bergeron], [Marchand], [Krejci], his big brother," Jim Montgomery said about Pastrnak. "That's why I think he loves being a Bruin and the Spoked-B means a lot to him."

TWO UP

Pastrnak needs three more to reach 60: Pastrnak has four games left to score three goals after his marker on Thursday pushed his goal total to 57.

The B's winger has now collected 11 goals in his last 11 games and has accumulated 104 points to date.

Third period dominance: The Bruins have been the best team in the third period all season and showed why once again against the Maple Leafs. Coyle's goal shifted the momentum the B's way and it held all the way into the overtime frame.

Coyle's first goal since March 19 improved the Bruins' third-period goal differential to +50.

TWO DOWN

Power play goes cold... again: The B's finished 0-for-4 on the man advantage Thursday, including a 4-on-3 chance in OT. The Bruins didn't have any great chances and struggled getting clean entries into the offensive zone.

It's the same problems that have hurt the B's over this stretch and it doesn't seem like it'll get much better at this point in the year. Maybe the returns of Taylor Hall and/or Nick Foligno will spark the units, but the B's need to get their confidence up ahead of the playoffs.

The B's power-play percentage is at 21.9 percent.

McAvoy goes down with injury: Charlie McAvoy left the game in the second period after falling awkwardly into the end boards and did not return.

Patrice Bergeron accidentally ran into McAvoy on the backcheck and hit McAvoy, who wasn't expecting it.

Montgomery said after the game that McAvoy was held out for precautionary reasons and he doesn't believe it's serious.

PLAY OF THE GAME

Although A.J. Greer received an extra penalty, his fight against Lafferty in the first period showed that any questionable hit against any Bruin will not go unnoticed:
