Week 10 Rolling Notebook: Olszewski, Harris officially out vs. Browns, Stevenson still questionable taken at BSJ Headquarters (Patriots)

The Patriots put out a status update for a couple of players ahead of Sunday's game against the Browns.

PR/WR Gunner Olszewski and RB Damien Harris are out against the Browns.

No update on Rhamondre Stevenson means he's still questionable but it's likely he does play. Would anticipate J.J. Taylor being active to round out the running backs. Jonnu Smith can spot there, and the Patriots have a full complement of reverses if the running game needs to be supplemented.

Jakobi Meyers handled punt return duties last week when Olszewski exited.

Former Browns receiver Odell Beckham Jr. reportedly picked the Rams over the Packers, and left the Patriots in a sizable group of would-be suitors.

Adam Schefter reported the news first, but then there were conflicting reports over whether Beckham had indeed made a decision. In the end, the Rams announced the move.

Albert Breer reported that it's just a one-year deal for Beckham, so that means he will be a free agent in the offseason unless the Rams tag him.

The Patriots were certainly intrigued by adding Beckham to their mix and made their pitch. Highly doubt it was much more than minimum and possible incentives. I'm sure it will "come out" that the Patriots offered more than the Rams contract, but do not believe everything you read.

BEDARD'S TAKE

Like I said previously, it is highly unlikely that Beckham will do enough in less than half a season to earn a huge contract in the offseason. If the Patriots and Mac Jones continue to show improvement to finish the season, I would anticipate the Patriots being a possible suitor for Beckham this offseason. Would have been nice to have a trial run with him, but so it goes.

No harm, no foul. Would have been nice to add Beckham, but now the Patriots can concentrate on continuing to build up what the have.

In other news this week ...

Four players, including both RBs, out of practice for second-straight day Thursday

Jamie Collins (ankle), Damien Harris (concussion), Rhamondre Stevenson (concussion) and Gunner Olszewski (concussion) all missed their second straight day practice. We'll see how that goes.

For the Browns, DE Myles Garrett (foot), DE Takkarist McKinley (groin) and C J.C. Tretter (knee) were out of practice Thursday. Garrett and McKinley missed Wednesday as well.

Trent Brown returns to practice

Good news and could lead to some line shuffling when Brown proves he's healthy, but I think that is a ways down the line. Right now the focus is on making sure Brown gets healthy and stays there. No more setbacks.

Patriots have 3 weeks to activate him.

Jarrett Stidham signed to the roster

The Patriots liked the way he came back this season so he has a legit chance to beat out Brian Hoyer for the backup job in practice, which would boot Hoyer to the practice squad.

Byron Cowart out for season

Patriots tried to allow him to come back, but Bill Belichick said he's not ready to join the roster.
