Snapping an 11-game losing streak in Yankee Stadium, the Red Sox earned their first win in the Bronx in two years, beating the Yankees, 5-2.
Rafael Devers drilled a three-run homer into the second deck in the first inning and Marwin Gonzalez later added a two-run double down the left field line to account for the Red Sox' runs.
Nathan Eovladi improved to 7-2, allowing just two runs -- one earned -- over six innings. In his best outing since joining the Sox, Hirokazu Sawamura tossed two shutout innings of relief with five strikeouts.

IN-GAME OBSERVATIONS:
T9: Heads up baserunning by Gonzalez, who runs hard out of the box and takes advantage of Brett Gardner jogging toward the ball and get himself a leadoff hustle double.
B8: Some of Sawamura's best work since joining the Sox - two innings, five strikeouts and an infield popup with a walk. Ate up two innings, and went through the toughest part of the New York lineup.
B7: Strong inning from Hirokazu Sawamura, who strikes out the side in his Yankee Stadium debut.
B6: Rough inning for Eovaldi, who yields a rocket line drive home run to Judge, then has Gonzalez commit a double error to allow another run to score. After mishandling a grounder, Gonzalez compounded things by throwing wildly past first and the Yanks close to within a run.
T6: Marwin Gonzalez, mired in a 5-for-49 funk, lashes a double into the left field, scoring two more.
T6: Just two baserunners since the first inning against King, who has settled in nicely.
T4: Michael King, pride of Rhode Island and Boston College, just completed an immaculate inning, fanning the side on nine pitches.
B3: This is the best Eovaldi has looked in some time. Velo is elite and he's shown good command. After allowing the first two hitters to reach, he's retired the last eight in a row.
T3: It seems pretty obvious that the Big Three have busted out. Already tonight, a single from Xander Bogaerts, a double from J.D. Martinez and a long homer from Devers.

T1: So much for trouble with the fastball. Rafael Devers gets one at 96 mph at the top of the zone and hammers it into the second deck in right. What a shot, and the Sox grab a 3-0 lead.

* The Red Sox officially completed their February deal for Andrew Benintendi by adding three prospects: outfielder Freddy Valdez from the New York Mets and two righthanders from the Kansas City Royals: Luis de la Rosa and Grant Gambrell. We'll have much more on these players Saturday.
* Ryan Brasier, working in Fort Myers as part of the team's extended spring training program, was struck on the right of the head during a simulated game Friday morning. Brasier was taken to a local hospital where he remains under observation. Brasier texted briefly with manager Alex Cora today and was in stable condition. "We're going to have more information (later),'' said Cora. "The plan was for him to actually fly to Boston after that one and most likely send him on a rehab assignment next week.'' Now, obviously, those plans are on hold.
* The Sox don't have a lot of good offensive options at first base currently. All three choices -- Danny Santana, Marwin Gonzalez and Bobby Dalbec -- are all hitting under .200. Gonzalez is the choice Friday night. "We're trying to get good matchups and we do believe that this is a good matchup with Marwin. That's the way I see it. We've got three guys who aren't swinging the bat the way they're capable of, but we're not going to give up on them.''
* Cora went with Santana over Kike Hernandez (0-for-24) in CF. "I just believe one more day for Kike will benefit him,'' said Cora. "Physically and mentally, just disconnect a little bit and work with (hitting coaches) on a few things and see the game from a different angle.''
* Brandon Workman, who returned to the organization a few weeks ago and pitched an inning Thursday in Houston, is happy to be back. "I fully plan to get back to being myself, throwing like myself and contributing as much as that allows,'' said Workman. Workman added that his familiarity with people in the organization. "That was a huge reason why I came back here after I got DFA'd in Chicago,'' he said. "That feeling was there as soon as I got to Worcester -- guys I had played with before and coaches I have worked with for a decade. There's definitely a comfortable feeling here and a familiarity.'' Workman has started using a cutter more in his pitch mix, having discarded it several seasons ago. "It's very (important),'' he said. "Being able to be a three-pitcher instead of a two-pitch guy, it's one more thing that people have to think about and defend against. I threw some good ones (Thursday). I've been incorporating back in there and I feel good with it.''
* The Red Sox announced plans to honor recently retired infielder Dustin Pedroia prior to the June 25 game against the Yankees at Fenway.
