PREGAME NOTES

Boston has a chance to lock down its first-round opponent on Monday — with the B's set to clinch the No. 3 seed in the East Division if they get at least one point against the fourth-ranked Islanders tonight. That would lock in Pittsburgh vs. New York and Washington vs. Boston in the opening round.

Ondrej Kase will make his return to the B's after missing 52 games with an upper-body injury, while Chris Wagner will also return after missing five games with an undisclosed injury. Kase and Wagner will replace Trent Frederic and Karson Kuhlman in the B's lineup. Kase will skate on a speedy, skill-heavy fourth line with Jake DeBrusk and Curtis Lazar.

Tuukka Rask will make the start in net for Boston — with Bruce Cassidy set to roll out a largely complete lineup for Monday's bout.

While Kase will make his return tonight, the Bruins' other injured forward in Charlie Coyle is not expected to play in either of Boston's final two games of the regular season. Coyle, who suffered an upper-body injury on Thursday, has resumed skating and is expected to be cleared come the postseason.

"Better," Cassidy said when asked how Coyle was progressing from his upper-body injury. "I don't know if he'll play these two games. I've got to check with the medical staff, see what the risk-reward is. Or is it better to get him ready for the playoffs? He will be ready to go for the playoffs if he does sit out these two games. Do we further risk injury if he does go back in. Does he need the game or two to get ready? Those are things we'll discuss with the player and the medical team and go from there."
