LIVE COVERAGE, by John Karalis
Fourth quarter
- Celtics open up the quarter on a quick 8-0 run, which included 5 more points from Brown.
- The Celtics have asserted themselves and the Lakers have quit. It's a 22-7 run for Boston over the first 5 minutes to build a 27 point lead. We're officially in garbage time.
- The Lakers bench made a big run against the Boston bench and the 27 point lead is down to 12 with 2:48 left.
- The starters were forced back into the game for the last couple of minutes, which is embarrassing for the bench unit.
- Celtics hold on. That was... unnecessary
Third quarter
- Celtics got a little sloppy to start the quarter, going with a little too much iso out of the gates, but they recovered thanks to L.A.'s starters just missing everything.
- The Celtics are still sloppy with the ball. They're now up to 15 turnovers leading to 13 Lakers points. Brown has 6 of those at this point.
- Kemba Walker got going a little and Boston pulled even in the quarter with the Lakers. When they put in a little effort, they get whatever they want
- And then the Lakers get two straight 3-pointers and Boston is slowly missing an opportunity to sit guys in the fourth quarter. Garbage time would be nice right now.
- The Lakers knocked 1 point off the lead. Jaylen Brown is hitting everything, and heads into the fourth with 31 points on 13-15 shooting (and the last miss was a heave)
Second quarter
- The Celtics have gone cold. After that 9-12 start, Boston only hit 6 of their next 20.
- Boston's bench is being outscored 24-7
- The Celtics got sloppy and are up to 11 turnovers in the game. This is part of how the Lakers bench kept them in the game. They have 9 points off of Boston turnovers. The Celtics have allowed 24 points in the pain to this point
- Boston's starters came in and went on an 11-3 run. Jaylen Brown (19 points) is on fire. Jayson Tatum (1o) isn't far behind.
First quarter
- Celtics attacked early and got out to a quick 7-0 lead. The rim should be wide open with the Lakers so depleted
- Jaylen Brown is flying by everyone. He has 7 of Boston's first 9 points
- The run extends out to 21-7 after a Kemba Walker 3-pointer. Boston is 9-12 to start the game. L.A. is 3-13.
- The Lakers bench came in and stabilized things, keeping the lead right around 11 or so. Talen Horton-Tucker was a problem. It'll be interesting to see if Brad Stevens changes who gets that assignment.
- Marcus Smart scored 5 straight points, including a very pretty floater in the lane
- Celtics vs. Lakers spread: Celtics -6
- Celtics vs. Lakers over-under: 212.5 points
- Celtics vs. Lakers money line: Celtics -250, Lakers +210
